Those Who Dig - the band

Those Who Dig (according to the TWD CD liner notes) consisted of Matt Hart, Meyer Horn, Kit Pongetti, Rod Sherwood, and Matthew Sturges.

I recently heard from Matthew Sturges, who's in San Fransisco. He's starting his own page for TWD at http://home.earthlink.net/~msturges/holland/twd.htm(, and he's doing some other interesting projects, too.. He was nice enough to send me the following information on the current whereabouts of the rest of TWD.

  from Matt Sturges on 11/5/1996:
Let's see, three of the five TWDers are in California now. Kit Pongetti(vocals) and Rod Sherwood(guitar) moved to LA together in '94. Rod works at a recording studio in Los Angeles and Kit is currently working on the *Roseanne* show as a production assistant or somesuch. Part of the decision for them to leave was that we were unable to form a new band after TWD split up. I think we couldn't find a drummer or a lead singer that we liked. I ended up playing bass with Michelle Solberg for about six months, which was great fun, but by that time the Austin music scene had (I felt then) completely turned against the kind of music we were trying to make, so I headed off to San Francisco just to go somewhere different, where I currently reside, writing songs and playing solo in small clubs. As it turns out, the music scene here is the pits, Counting Crows notwithstanding.

Our other two members both left the band to go to medical school. Matt Hart (vocals, guitar) is now happily studying medicine in NYC and has no intention of returning to music, and Meyer Horn (drums) is in med school at the University of Tennessee, although he takes every opportunity he can get to play.

So we're all somewhere, and Rod and I are planning a collaborative recording project that may blossom into a band thing somewhere in the next year. Cross your fingers for us.
