Pennsylvania -
The end of this trip, photo-wise.
Here's the deal: Motel 6 rocks, not only on strictly utilitarian grounds (What more do you really want out of a hotel than a clean bed, clean towels, and cable? Nada, as far as I'm concerned). They're cheap, and pretty universally they accept pets. Additionally, it's hard to throw a rock off most exits and not hit one.
Not so on IH-80 through northern Pennsylvania. Nary a Motel 6 to be found. So the pets and I drove through the night, catching a little rest at a couple of rest areas in Pennsylvania and New York. By the time we hit the Empire State, I had no desire to waste time doing anything other than peeing, driving, or sleeping, so we pressed on through to Mystic. I'll drag the dog down to the town sign this weekend to get a bookend picture, but the last day of the trip blew.
Oh, I'd forgotten to post this one:
Finally found a plane with 12V outlets under the seat in Coach. Guess it's time to buy an inverter now.
Indiana. Absolutely beautiful.
Kentucky had no state pride - nothing with the state name on it.
BTW - I switched over to interstates when i crossed into Illinois, so these pictures are no longer at state lines; they're at the state welcome centers. I debated stopping at the state lines anyway, but Illinois was way up in the air on a bridge over the Father of Waters, so I decided on plan B.
Ohio had the coolest rest areas. The bathrooms were all in these cool buildings actually built into the earth. I could see getting nagged each spring - "Honey, it's time to mow the house again..."
Scamp at the Louisiana/Arkansas line in Junction City.
Stopped here for lunch. Mmmmm, fried fish and sweet tea:
Mother of all rainstorms.
Looks like this is the only way I'm going to see Shreveport other than every 5 or 10 years for reunion.
Stopped in to see Gordo and his clan in Ruston. They are digging small town life. Easier to take, I guess, as parents than as students.
Somehow these don't sound too appetizing:
Figured I'd throw these up here rather than on the 'Porch. All pictures are with a 1999 vintage AGFA digital camera set for low resolution, and further compressed with iPhoto.
