Fuming at AT&T
I’m trying to be understanding about the whole thing, but every time I look more into it, the madder I become. Sure, AT&T has to be concerned about their bottom line, but I’ve been doing the math and if my bottom line is improved by kicking them to the curb then they really need to […]
Trek and Harry Potter Trailers
Is it just me, or are May and July too far away? flowplayer(“a.trek”, “/backporchbeer/flowplayer-3.0.0-rc3.swf”, { plugins: { controls: { all:false, play:true, scrubber:true, fullscreen:true, allowFullScreen: true } } }); flowplayer(“a.hphbp”, “/backporchbeer/flowplayer-3.0.0-rc3.swf”, { plugins: { controls: { all:false, play:true, scrubber:true , fullsreen:true, allowFullScreen: true } } });
Meet Close Call
Several of us had a near-death experience Sunday, but I wanted you all to know that we’re just fine and explain what happened. Becky, Sandy and I decided to go see the new Batman movie — awesowe, btw — and we got a call from Mike and Kelly that they were going to the same […]
Sliding Screen Door
The night before we headed out for vacation, Kelly mentioned that we should look into getting “roll-up” screen doors. I was intrigued by the idea and set my mind to learn more. Lucky me that Evie had one installed on her back door. It’s a really simple affair and may mature more before it is […]
Homestar Runner Calls For Calm During Photiades Household Crisis
SBCG4AP is rumored to be headed for a small home in Portland, Maine. The owner of the home, Kevin Photiades (52), had this to say “No, TVs and Wiis have no place in my home.” Despite the utter super badness of Strongbad in his own video game Photiades denies any desire to purchase a Nintendo […]
Opensource the HD-DVD
Now that HD-DVD has lost the battle, I’ve thought of a way to keep the format alive. The rights/patent owners should release the technology through an open source outlet, giving that community the ability to create their own disc format free of restriction. It’s a dream, but it doesn’t seem too unachievable.
Gettysburg Sellout
With the ongoing saga of the Jena 6 which has been uncovering even more backwardass mess in the South, it is nice to see that a t-shirt like this one sells-out by 4am.
It’s funny cuz it’s true…
I apologize if some are already familiar with the genius that is this blog, but it’s too good (i.e. scarily accurate) not to pass on. Enjoy… http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/
Bravia Ad
Sony (Eu) has made some really cool ads lately (that totally kick the ass of that creepy little girl with the box of mirrors for Mitsubishi). You can check more out at their site but since Becky loves bouncy balls so much I wanted to preserve it here for her repeated viewing pleasure.
Sink Upgrade
Right in the middle of our spare room remodel we suffered a forced remodel in the bathroom. One evening I shut off the water as I was finishing washing my hands and a trickle could still be heard…then the leak frog went off. I ran my hands around the pipe — that’s not a metaphor […]
It’s Showtime!
If you’re wondering about that empowering smell every time you’re near me?
Phone history
I came across some old Nokia phone pics today and thought it would be fun to see the mobile phones I’ve owned all in a row. (scale is purely estimated.)
Spare Room Remodel, Winter, Early 2008
We had Watermark & Co manage a reconstruction project on the spare room behind our kitchen, converting it to a library/sitting-room. We think it looks great. Now we just have to pull out all the boxes of books we own to fill the shelves. Here’s a flick set showing the progress from about January 14 […]
Austin Best City To Live and Make Movies…Shreveport #3
Thanks to the Austinist for pointing out that MovieMaker Magazine named Austin as the #1 place to “live, work and make movies”. Initially, I think “Oh, that’s great! We’re almost done with our latest film project, contributing to the coolnes.” Then I think “But wait, we still haven’t made our own film, unprodded by the […]
The Best Infomercial Product EVER
Sandy let me on to a new health craze that’s apparently sweeping the nation. The Hawaii Chair lets you excercise while SITTING DOWN! Ellen was kind enough to do a demo on her show.
