Here’s just the gadget I’ve been waiting for.
Wattson is a system that meters your household-wide power consumption and displays it on a sleek console, showing you watts or money consumed. It also has an ambient light mode that indicates power consumption through colored light. It’s designed and made by a small London design firm, so it’s all in pounds now (including the price, which comes out close to $700) but hopefully they’ll get to an American version and get the cost down.
Apparently they also have an online component that lets you do that passive statistical tracking I love so well.
