Every week I make a list of notable discs being released so I can figure out what I “need” to buy. ;)

Be sure to look after the break for a couple bonus must-not-miss trailer videos.

* “I Love You, Man”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt1155056/ – After watching *Planes, Trains, and Automobiles* this weekend — yes, we had a John Hughes weekend like everyone else — I appreciate more the history of the bromance movie. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel are also comedic geniuses who can pull off the heart-warming male bonding. p.s. Check out the IMDB listings for the cast. Jason Segel is on the front of the cover, but he’s thirty-three on the cast list behind two actors called “Open House Couple”.
* “St. Elmo’s Fire”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0090060/ – It’s just coincidence that this movie is released this week on Blu-Ray. It was popular at the time for its Brat Pack cast — who many owe a debt to John Hughes for the birth of their careers — but I’m pretty sure it won’t hold up. I can’t wait to see it again to see how bad my judgment was in the ’80s.
* “Starman”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0088172/ – This movie resonates with a lot of geeks, but not me. I think I just don’t care for Jeff Bridges, and I’ve never felt that John Carpenter was good enough to have his name in the title of a film, i.e. *John Carpenter’s Starman*. I’m not knocking him, just trying take him down a peg.
* “Almost Heaven”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0813378/ – The Canada-only release of this film should caution most people to stay away from it, but I have a soft spot for Donal Logue (plus I’ll watch just about any movie.)
* “Gooby”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt1132588/ – Check out the funny-in-a-bad-way trailer posted from YouTube (below) alongside the also hilarious parody video that showed up almost simultaneously. I’m not sure what Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid from *Harry Potter*) was thinking, but this will go down in history for one of the worst trailers (plus I’m betting the movie is pretty bad.)
* “The Wildman of Navidad”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0829442/ – One of the few features at Fantastic Fest “with high ratings”:http://fantasticfest.bside.com/2008/films/thewildmanofthenavidad_fantasticfest2008 that I didn’t see. I’m hoping to catch it on the rebound before this year’s festival arrives.
* “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt1349482/ – I include this only for my wife who loves a good dance/cheer-off and has seen the first three *Bring It On* movies back-to-back. The other films cast actresses who had other career high notes (Ashley Tisdale, Hayden Panetierre, Felicia Day) but the only notable cast member in this one is Laura Cerón who played Nurse Chuny Marquez on *ER*.
