Every week I make a list of notable discs being released so I can figure out what I “need” to buy. ;)
- Fargo – Any Coen brothers movie remastered for Blu-Ray is a must, and this is no exception. I can’t wait to see the vast expanses of ice and snow, with sharp splatters of blood.
- Galaxy Quest – This is one of the few Tim Allen vehicles that I would own, but since it’s only a DVD release then I will wait. I don’t understand why any studio is still doing only DVD releases.
- The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – There aren’t many movies my wife will let me upgrade to Blu-Ray, but any Leone movie in my collection has to be seen in Hi Def.
- The Grudge – I would normally support any project from a Joss Whedon alumnus, but this remake of a hit Japanese horror film is not just worse than the original — it is bad all on its own.
- Taken – I’m still mad at Luc Besson and Pierre Morel for releasing this in every other country before the US, but I love a good revenge flick. This is a great revenge flick.
- Disney Animation Collections 1-6 Mickey and the Beanstalk, The Prince and the Pauper, Three Little Pigs, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Wind in the Willows, The Reluctant Dragon – I bought several of Walt Disney’s animation DVDs before I realized I needed to wait until they were remastered for High Definition. Now I know better, but it is tempting to see all of these released on the same day.
