Every week I make a list of notable discs being released so I can figure out what I “need” to buy. ;)
- Big – I don’t think I’ve seen all of this since it was released in theaters (20 years ago) but I remember it was Penny-Marshall-and-Tom-Hanks-funny.
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons – I know a lot of people were really touched by this movie, and I didn’t hate it but I remember the post-production computerized add-ons seemed obvious. Still, the story ends better than it begins, and is worth seeing.
- Dexter the Complete Second Season – This is another show that received rave reviews, yet I never got to see. It’s on the pile, but unless I am suddenly bed-ridden for an extended time — <knock on wood> — I don’t think I’ll catch up.
- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Grease, Roxanne, Saturday Night Fever, There’s Something About Mary – These were defining pop movies for many people , and I love them, but I’m not sure why anyone would need the Blu-Ray release. They aren’t a pinnacle of cinematography, or a wonder of surround sound. Still, if you don’t have one in your collection then your collection is incomplete.
- Doctor Who: The E-Space Trilogy – Tom Baker was the most memorable, and possibly the best, of the classic Doctor Who’s. This three disc set collects the high point of the series with Baker.
- Twilight (Ultimate Collector’s Set) – Only rabid fandom could bring this future boat anchor into being. The way the box open like one of those little-girl spinning-plastic-ballerina music-box jewelry boxes revealing a misty brooding picture of Edward Culling makes it clear who is the target demographic.
