Hey Austinites — Austin is opening up its Green Choice energy program again. This is where you pay for the power company to buy your power consumption from renewable sources, primarily West Texas wind farms.
We subscribed when we moved to Austin and at some point in 2006, the Green Choice rate dropped below the conventional rate. It looks like the current Green rate is more expensive, but you lock in your rate for 15 years, so it’s likely to pay off in the long run.
I’m mainly posting this so I can add this photo I took on the way to California of some of those very same West Texas wind farms.
