Austin movie festival season is nigh upon us. You may remember my one brief update from Fantastic Fest last year. I spent Saturday putting together my itinerary for this year’s festival. They’ve teamed up with BSide.com (just like the Austin Film Festival) to organize the calendar& and their film list& but I like to build my own schedule. It should be an interesting festival with over 90 events of films, shorts and panels. The key mainstream attractors are Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain& and Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The Beginning&. I, of course, am more interested in some more alternative fare like Roman& (with a director I met as an actress and an actor I met as a director at BNAT 4, plus a spot from Kristen Bell) and Edmond& (with an all star cast: William H. Macy, Julia Stiles, Joe Mantegna, Jeffrey Combs, Denise Richards and Mena Suvari). Actually, the festival seems a little over-programmed. I am a little miffed that I’ll be missing Piano Tuner of Earthquakes& but I can’t seem to fit in everything I want to see. Oh well, I’ll just have to make due with the 34+ other things I’ll get to see.
