Two Austin icons are gone in two days. Lloyd Bentsen, one of Texas most beloved Senators and a former Secretary of the Treasury, died yesterday. The worst thing you could say about him is that he left his seat open for Kay Bailey Hutchison when he answered the call to serve the POTUS. Clifford Antone, the owner/operator of famous Antone’s nightclub, tax evader and drug trafficker, passed away early this morning. Two men who couldn’t be further from each other on the spectrum of society yet both were loved and respected for contributing so much to the Heart of Texas.
