OK, not the dinosaurs, but the fauna that preceded them. Much like the extinction of the dinosaurs paved the way for mammalian megafauna and then humans, the mass extinction of earlier critters about 250 million years ago paved the way for dinos. The CW used to be that it was another asteroid/comet impact, but there’s a distinct lack of a crater.

Wired sez and NPR sez too that CO2 from volcanos, etc, lead to massive climate change. Good stuff.

BTW – the crater that killed the Dinos? The Gulf of Mexico, baby. Which makes you wonder: If the crust of the planet were blown into space, where does all that oil come from along the crater’s rim?

Are getting an early start on the annual accuse Lance of doping exercise. Woo Hoo.

And for the record, I’m jumping back on the Texan’s bandwagon here and now, before even he and the Discos have committed to racing Le Tour.

It just came out that we’re under a Blizzard warning for tomorrow afternoon. I don’t think I’d seen one of these in the years I’ve spent living in Connecticut. Forecast calls for winds out of the Northeast…

A BLIZZARD WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OR FREQUENT GUSTS OF OVER 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH CONSIDERABLE FALLING AND OR BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES WILL BECOME POORWITH WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES. THOSE VENTURING OUTDOORS MAY BECOME LOST OR DISORIENTED… SO PERSONS IN THE WARNING AREA ARE ADVISED TO STAY INDOORS.

Wow, I say. Wow.

The upside is that it’s cold, so the snow will be really, really fluffy. Sunday looks to be a fun day with Jake and the skis. Will post pics as they become available. Missy has confirmed we have oil and food.

Apparently there was something going on in the city yesterday — lots of police cars and traffic.

But around midnight as Cyn and I were going to bed, we heard some noise outside and looked out to the street to see AN HONEST-TO-GOD ANGRY MOB!

There were about 100 of those anti-globalization types taking up all of Columbia Road, chanting, beating drums, and — I kid you not — three or four of them were carrying torches. Torches!!

Awesome.

Anyway, here’s where they ended up (third paragraph).
