None of you are surprised that Becky and I doubled-up on the theater visits this weekend — not to mention planning a repeat viewing on Wednesday of a new favorite — so here’s a little reviewin’ to help you develop only slightly less uninformed opinions about movies you haven’t seen.
We Don’t Live Here Anymore is a movie I reccomend for families and children. It’s light-hearted treatment of adultery, resentment, and the bitter inner conflicts of marriage commitment and sexual desire for your best friend’s spouse is perfect for the Finding Nemo crowd. …or not. This is one seriously well-directed, evenly produced and superbly acted drama that is heavy on the depression.
Paparazzi is getting a little more negative reviewin’ than it probably deserves for it’s primary faults of (1) being produced by Mel Gibson who seems to be universally hated in Hollywood at the moment, and (2) containing a completely amoral (maybe immoral) main character. I love a good revenge movie, and this film has that in spades, but Cole Hauser’s character can only justify his murderous actions on slippery grounds.
Bonus review:
Becky loved Garden State as much as I love Punch Drunk Love, so we’ll be dragging friends to see it Wednesday night. I was recovering from a massive allergy attack (including possible sinus infection) when we saw it first which may have affected my ability to LOVE this film, but I really liked it. You should see this one for sure.
