For both PC and Mac:

On the platform that dare not speak its name I am really getting into using Camino. Seems a step quicker than Safari with a happier looking basic interface, and all the coolness of tabbed browsing. But it’s Apples and apples; mostly it satisfies my deep seated desire not to throw all my eggs in one basket, regardless of how hip and with it the basket may be.

For my monopoly powered computing needs, I’m enjoying Deepnet Explorer. Tabbed browsing rocked, AND it’s got embedded P2P support and a RSS Newsreader. PLUS, beating the socks off of Mozilla, it supports ESPN Motion.

Put down your milk so it doesn’t come out of your nose on this one, but: Oil isn’t from Dinosaurs, it’s spontaneously generated. Now that you’re done laughing, the commies actually made some finds in the Caspian Sea region, Western Siberia, and the Dneiper-Donets Basin. The abiogenic origin of petroleum deposits would explain some phenomena that are not currently understood, such as why petroleum deposits almost always contain biologically inert helium. Based on his theory, Gold persuaded the Swedish State Power Board to drill for oil in a rock that had been fractured by an ancient meteorite. It was a good test of his theory because the rock was not sedimentary and would not contain remains of plant or marine life. The drilling was successful, although not enough oil was found to make the field commercially viable.

In any case, it’s moot, since hemp can solve all of our fuel needs, making us energy independent, for a mere 6% of all US land. When burned in a diesel engine, biodiesel replaces the exhaust odor of petroleum diesel with the pleasant smell of hemp, popcorn or french fries. “No, officer, that’s just the car’s exhaust”(cough, cough).

Hemp. Is there anything it can’t do?

“I have long supported comprehensive campaign finance reform to take special interest dollars out of this political system. I have demonstrated my commitment to campaign finance reform in my Senate races – where I have always refused to take PAC money, and in my legislative priorities in the Senate – where I have consistently cosponsored the McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform bill. “ Sen. Kerry’s Website

Yet, he’s proposing playing around the same laws he supported to maximize the amount of time he can reap campaign contributions. He also refuses to distance himself from unlimited donations from rich folks in 527 committees.

So which is it? Does money corrupt politics, or only when the rich people support the GOP?

Today’s reason: is there a modern politically-correct term for someone who offers something then takes it back?

Some Bush supporters have tried to argue that W is not responsible for his touted “compassionate” programs not getting funded, but if he’s making campaign slogans out of a program then asking for the program’s funding to be cut (as discussed in this NYT article) he’s not being entirely honest.

Justice Department officials recently announced that they were awarding $47 million to scores of local law enforcement agencies for the hiring of police officers. Mr. Bush had just proposed cutting the budget for the program, known as Community Oriented Policing Services, by 87 percent, to $97 million next year, from $756 million.

the secretary of health and human services, announced recently that the administration was awarding $11.7 million in grants to help 30 states plan and provide coverage for people without health insurance. Mr. Bush had proposed ending the program in each of the last three years.

The administration also announced recently that it was providing $11.6 million to the states so they could buy defibrillators to save the lives of heart attack victims. But Mr. Bush had proposed cutting the budget for such devices by 82 percent, to $2 million from $10.9 million.

At first my thought was “a person with too much spare time” when I saw this collection of panoramas that were screen cap’d and photoshopped from episodes of Futurama. Then I thought this might be a new fun kind of fan art, especially if you take a pan’d scene from your favorite movie and include multiple action shots of the same character (like this one where Leela shows up twice.)
