I passed on this one last week, but recent conversation has convinced me.

If you hadn’t noticed, I added a link to the sidebar last week to Media Matters for America, an organization founded by David Brock, former Conservative scandalmonger (he broke Clinton’s Troopergate and raked Anita Hill over the coals) turned Right-wing media watchdog.

Colin Powell was cut-off in his interview with Tim Russert…

Toward the end of a “Meet the Press” interview with Secretary of State Colin Powell in Jordan, the camera suddenly moved off Powell to a shot of trees in front of the water.

“You’re off,” State Department press aide Emily Miller was heard saying.

“I am not off,” Powell insisted.

“No, they can’t use it, they’re editing it,” Miller said.

“He’s still asking the questions,” Powell said.

Now, that’s what I call professionalism.

Today’s reason: he hates the Constitution.

Ok, he just wants to add a small piece to it that bars a small section of American citzens from having equal rights. I would think we have better things for Congress-persons to do.

“I called on the Congress to pass, and to send to the states for ratification, an amendment to our Constitution defining and protecting marriage as a union of a man and a woman as husband and wife. The need for that amendment is still urgent, and I repeat that call today.”

Came this morning when I heard that the DoD was redeploying troops from Korea to Iraq.

(How’s this for balance?)

Granted, I’m sure there will be many harrumphs here for my “unfounded” fears of communism, but last I checked, North Korea wasn’t pulling any of its million + troops off of the DMZ. And AFAIK, they’ve still got a couple of taepodong missiles, an active nuke program, and not a whole lot to lose.

If things are getting under control in Iraq, why this redeployment? Maybe there’s been under-the-table discussions with the Commies-du-nord, but in this case, I am with those who wish the Administration would show a bit more transparency.

But it’s not getting much press, and continues to be shouted down.

The Czechs have long maintained that Atta, leader of the 9/11 hijackers in the United States, met with Ahmed al-Ani, an Iraqi intelligence official, posted to the Iraqi embassy in Prague. … Prior to the 9/11 attacks, the Czechs were closely watching the Iraqi embassy. Al-Ani’s predecessor had defected to Britain in late 1998, and the Czechs (along with the British and Americans) learned that Baghdad had instructed him to bomb Radio Free Europe, headquartered in Prague, after RFE had begun a Radio Free Iraq service earlier that year. … Following the 9/11 attacks, the Czech informant who had observed the meeting saw Mohammed Atta’s picture in the papers and told the BIS he believed that Atta was the man he had seen meeting with al-Ani. On September 14, BIS informed its CIA liaison that they had tentatively identified Atta as al-Ani’s contact. …

Sarin bomb explodes in Iraq

(Irony) But we all know it’s a Bush Administration plant, right? I mean, this has to be why Rumsfeld went to Iraq last week, right? (/irony)

It’s like a Friendster for George W. Bush. It’s just that instead of looking for dates or new friends, they’re looking for tax cuts and new regulations.

It’s a cheap shot, but it’s funny.
