I guess this means Becky needs to avoid the Boston Marathon this year.

Race officials from the Boston Athletic Association met last year with the Hopkinton Marathon Committee — formed more than 20 years ago to address the fouling of property during the event — after an unprecedented flood of complaints about runners not only urinating, but defecating, applying Vaseline to private parts, and changing tampons within public view.

Hopefully, NYC won’t have a problem with her urinating in public places.

This from dailykos.com:

So Dick Morris is on Hannity and the other guy tonight… he was referring to the Rasmussen poll and was saying that this week Bush tanked because of Iraq, and couldn’t believe the media wasn’t talking about it. Nine point turnaround, all due to Iraq.
Hannity was incredulous. He said, with his mouth open, but Dick, you said the more the Dems talk about the war, the more the Repubs gain. What’s up with that?

Morris shrugged and said, well, Sean, if you want to be the war president, you sort of have to win the war.

Break to commercial.

Today’s reason: censorship sucks — even for the right wing.

Is it possible to be anti-Bush and post an article from Right Wing News? It is when Bush’s buddies in the House Energy and Commerce Committee are allowing the ultra-religious conservative nuts to decide who in the entertainment industry gets to continue doing business and who gets bludgeoned to bankruptcy with over-zealous FCC fines.

When you raise fines to [ $500,000 ] and threaten to revoke licenses you are in effect engaging in “stealth censorship”. …if the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted to ban “shock jocks” like Howard Stern & Don and Mike from the airwaves, they’d hear shrieks of “First Amendment, First Amendment” until their ears bled — and rightfully so. …many of you reading this very page probably think “Stern’s a gross, obnoxious, pig who rips on Republicans and Christians. Why should I care if he loses his radio show?” If Stern went off the air because he couldn’t compete in the marketplace or because of public pressure on the radio stations that put him on the air, I wouldn’t care either. But when the government decides to step in and wipe people like Stern off the map despite the fact that they’re popular, despite the fact that they’ve been on the air doing their shtick for more than a decade, conservatives should care.

Stern has been fined multiple times in the last few years and his shareholders have started questioning whether his product is still valuable. Until this massive fine restructuring reared its ugly head, they were on the fence. The FCC is putting Stern out of business with these fines, instead of letting the American public decide with their ca$h which businesses to support.

Here’s the story:

My brother and I just returned from a long trip. My honeymoon, actually. You see, a funny thing happened on my way to the altar. My fiancée dumped me the week of our wedding. Ouch, huh? But I’m an optimist. I didn’t panic (well, maybe just a little). I decided to have a wedding anyway…just without a bride (highly recommended, by the way — all the fun, no hideous bridal party dresses). …

The result is a book called Honeymoon With My Brother, to be published by St. Martin’s Press in the second half of 2004. Please check back for release dates and book signings in your area. And in the meantime, check out Kurt’s photographs and articles I penned during the trip.

Usually Maureen Dowd drives me nuts. She is all conjecture and flip puns, with plenty of alliteration and few good points. However, I have to say that her latest column is worth reading –

I couldn’t have been the only one glued to the TV yesterday watching Phil Mickelson as he won the best Masters I remember. It was perfect – he was the last person off the course, and nailed an 18-foot putt for a birdie on his last hole to win. Could not have been better.

This is one of the few golf tournaments that I watch, but I try to catch a little bit of it every year. This year I couldn’t change the channel, but I had to mute it while he made his shots – it was like a horror movie, the tension was so high. An awesome way for him to finally win a major.
