Why have GGW so often in front of Joe Francis’s cameramen? This article suggests it’s about self-empowering women embracing their sexuality, but I think it has more to do with Kamikazes and Jello© shots…anyway, the last bit is the best bit:

On their way back inside, I ask one of them, a blonde in a turquoise miniskirt and now, of course, a hard-earned GGW hat, what they do when they are not on spring break. “We’re grad students,” she says, with only a slight slur. “It’s sad. We’ll have Ph.D.s in three years.”

In what, I ask.

“Anthropology.”

Looks like the Bush Medicare package will bankrupt the system in 2019

The deteriorating financial picture for the health care program for older and disabled Americans is a result, in part, of the new Medicare prescription drug law that will swell costs by more than $500 billion over 10 years, according to the annual report by government trustees.

Today’s reason: censorship.

Protesting is out of the question in Crawford, TX since you’ll get arrested without the proper permit (and I’m betting you’ll have some difficulty getting said permit.) Also, if you just happen to be wearing an anti-Bush or anti-establishment t-shirt or button the local law enforcement may decide to classify it as an unlicensed protest and arrest you on the spot.

Harrington asked him “whether one of the defendants would have violated the ordinance by sporting political buttons, such as those that read ‘No Nukes’ and ‘Peace,’ without the permit,” according to the Waco Tribune-Herald.

“It could be a sign of demonstration,” Chief Tidmore responded, according to the paper.

oh, and if you happen to be watching protestors you may get arrested, too.

“I wanted to see what was going on,” he says, “so I took off walking toward the highway. I was standing by the side of the road when I was hailed by a policeman, who turned out to be Police Chief Tidmore. He said, ‘You, get over there with the rest of them, get in your car, and get out of here.’ I wasn’t with the rest of them, and I didn’t have a car. I wasn’t able to do what he ordered, and I needed to explain to him what my situation was. I told him I walked from the Crawford Peace House, and I asked him if he could give me a ride back. He said, ‘We’ll give you a ride. We’ll give you a ride to the jail.’ “

Machicek says a deputy then came over, “threw me on the hood of the car, handcuffed me, and marched me to the van.”

All of this is old news since Bush’s people are either trying to keep him in the dark about protesters, or keep the media image of Bush purified from the images of protesters.
