Today’s reason: He’s an arrogant [ quick stick with a sharp pin ]. From jank’s favorite online magazine, Bill Hangley, Jr. recounts his “encounter with Bush”:http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2004/03/19/bush_encounter/index.html on 7/4/2001.

bq. … I had some serious misgivings about the president’s performance up to that point, and being a part of the whole operation had left me feeling a bit like a pseudo-person. So when I had the chance to shake Bush’s hand, I said, “Mr. President, I’m very disappointed in your work so far. I hope you only serve four years.”

bq. His smiling response was swift: “Who cares what you think?”

Bill’s got one good point that ??neither Bush’s supporters nor his detractors find the story ridiculous at all??. I encourage you supporters though to imagine a situation where John Kerry said the same to you.

I read this and I can tell you one person who doesn’t care what this guy thinks – ME!

It’s a stupid story and I don’t think it’s that significant.

I don’t know if I care what he thinks since I don’t really know anything about him, but I think this type of arrogancy with the voting public is indicative of the quality of diplomacy we have witnessed (and can continue to expect) from this POTUS.

To me, it’s just another data point supporting the thesis: “George W. Bush is an asshole”.

Some people seem to like that in a President. I just can’t respect him on a personal level. Some people hate(d) Clinton for the same reason.

Don’t you mean “Some people hate(d) Clinton for the opposite reason.” — because he was smoove?

No, I mean because of their lack of personal respect for him (which was of course a result of personality traits related to his smooooveness).

Should I start a new post titled “Why isn’t Collin Pres?” As possibly the sole member of Bush’s cabinet that I can outright express my admiration for, I was impressed with the minor storyline [“during Collin Powell’s visit to Iraq”:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,114622,00.html%5D. (Read the last section.)

In stark contrast to the article above, Collin faced a rebuke from nearly 2 dozen journalists and instead of asking “Who cares what you think?” or threatening “Bring it on!”, ??Powell said he regretted “any loss of life, journalists, coalition soldiers, missionaries, average Iraqi citizens going about their daily lives.”?? In other reports he went on to politely point out that this protest behavior would not have been allowed just over a year ago in Iraq.
