For those who still haven’t done their taxes this year, here’s a bit of encouragement from Warren Buffet’s 2003 letter to Berkshire Hathaway stockholders.

Our federal tax return for 2002 (2003 is not finalized), when we paid $1.75 billion, covered a mere 8,905 pages. As is required, we dutifully filed two copies of this return, creating a pile of paper seven feet tall.

He says 2003’s taxes will total $3.3B, by the way, which is 2.5% of the total income tax paid by all U.S. corporations.

Warren’s a hoss. What’s the corporate tax rate- something about 1/3, right? Which means that BH shareholders kept $3.3b in Profit …

Good on ’em.

I’m thinking of buying some. Although while my broker lets me buy fractional shares, I’m not sure if the system will track the number of decimal places I’d need to account for the amount I’d be buying.
