I am still not loving John Kerry (though I’d definitely vote on a Kerry/Doggett ticket) because I’ve never had a good gut feeling about him. Michael Grunwald and Slate are not even close to unbaised reporting (favoring the Fox “News” version of events) but this article does highlight one of my dislikes for Kerry and all career politicians in general.

Here, then, since John Edwards was too polite to mention them (though President Bush won’t be), is a guide to some of Kerry’s other reversals on substantive issues.

This nice article at The Nation covers a list of possible veep candidates for Kerry including my favorite, Lloyd Doggett.

Texas Representative Lloyd Doggett, one of the savviest and most effective members of the current Congress. He’s a former state Supreme Court Justice with a great legal mind. And wouldn’t it be interesting to hear a Texas- accented voice explaining the folly of the war with Iraq, the Patriot Act and other Bush initiatives?

The best part of this is that since the Texas GOP forced themselves on the state by redrawing districts, two very capable and well-thought-of candidates are running for District 25’s congressional seat. If Lloyd was able to make it into the V.P. chair, he could graciously release his seat to Leticia Hinojosa — since “God couldn’t win in that district as a Republican.”

While many geeks complain about never getting the hovercar that was promised in their future, I always dreamed of something different. My ultimate technology dream involves a recorder embeded in my brain, looking out through my eyes, listening through my ears, storing my day from end-to-end. Then when I was home or near a network node the sound and video would be downloaded so I could review it whenever I wanted to.

Microsoft is moving one small step in the direction of my dream with the SenseCam.

The prototype responds to changes such as bright lights and sudden movements and might one day even respond to other stimuli such as heart rate or skin temperature – to track medical problems as easily as to record a Hawaiian vacation. And it could eventually link with other technology, such as face recognition to remind wearers when they’ve seen someone before.

(and don’t link to that freak professor in California who thinks he’s a cyborg — he’s just scary. Microsoft is friendly!)

Cipo’s in for Le Tour

Mario Cipollini is cooler than you are

It’s a shame that his team didn’t get a bid last year when he was world champion. There’s something about watching his unnaturally large teeth burst into a grin when he crosses the line that makes it easy to root for him. Good on the Tour committee for correcting their error from last year.
