I was nodding the other night and watched my current favorite movie again with a slightly different perspective. I focused a little harder on Emily Watson and how the Lena Leonard character was developed.

There’s been a bunch of back and forth about what ‘the troops’ think about Iraq. This picture sums up the attitude of most of the sailors that I know. Here’s the message that came with the picture:
The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute to our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is by taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that “WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN” and are proud to serve our country. Semper Fi. 1st Sgt Dave Jobe “Baker 8”

This is an ad I saw on a bus stop this morning, apparently there’s an entire campaign going on in DC.
From another message board that I frequent:
Hi. I’ve had this collection of blood under the nail of big toe for about a week. I got it from my foot being stepped on while playing basketball. My toe was puffy and sore, and I cried like a little schoolboy every time my two-year old accidentally dropped his toy drum on it.
So I went to the super-informational highway and typed “blood under toenail” into Google. I was immediately sent to a doctor type website that said I should heat the tip of a paper clip and then burn a whole through my toenail with it to release the fluid.
So I tried it last night, and it was the most awesome and successful self-medical procedeure I have ever performed. The hot paper clip tip literally melted a tiny whole in my toenail. At first my nail started to smoke. Then soon after the hole had burned all the way through my nail, all the collected blood seeped and oozed out. It was incredibe!
Anyway, had to share it. I’ve been telling every one about it. I almost want my toe to be stepped on again so I can perform the procedure one more time.
