Apparently “Salon.com “:http://www.salon.com has returned from Labor Day vacation (after using Tuesday as a recovery day) with a liberal vengence. Tom DeLay “breaks state laws”:http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/09/03/delay/index.html using coporate donations, DeLay and Rove are working to “destroy the Hispanic vote”:http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/09/03/texas/index.html (talk about sticking your finger in a crumbling dyke), Bush “believed Iraqi exiles”:http://www.salon.com/opinion/scheer/2003/09/03/chalabi/index.html more than ??intelligence experts in every branch of the U.S. government?? and Keith “my favorite political cartoonist” Knight takes a broad swipe, too.

It just doesn’t seem fair.

The folks at Salon must have all picked kickers in the first round of their fantasy drafts and are feeling bitter about now.

I’ve fisked the Salon article if you’re interested. The admissions it contains are almost as amazing as its utter lack of evidence for any racist intent or effect. Her entire case boils down to being “attuned to the signals” and the arrogant (indeed, racist) presumption that white male incumbent Democrats would do a better job of representing minority interests than the additional minority representatives who’d actually be elected under the redistricting plans being discussed.
