Dude, I’m never paying a subscription fee again. I can ignore an ad a day with broadband and tabbed browsing. Ah, free content – the original Internet business model.

Have you ever been in a situation, and wondered What Would Jesus Do? Maybe you even bought a bracelet to remind you to ask yourself WWJD. Sometimes, difficult situation arise, and we get a little frustrated, even angry enough to use profanity. That doesn’t mean the question shouldn’t be asked – What The [ expletive deleted ] Would Jesus Do? Maybe you’d rather the guy tailgating you ask himself that question. Remind him with a handy-dandy WTFWJD bumper sticker.

It often targets the wrong people. Asbestos, for instance. There’s an entire business sector which is no longer, and lots of companies (whose only sin was trying to protect their employees and customers in the event of a fire by installing asbestos insulation) that still have billions of dollars of suits outstanding from people who haven’t even gotten sick. All because asbestos exposure may increase the incidence of mesotheliomas, a certain type of lung cancer.

New studies show , however, that mesothelioma may be caused by a virus instead of asbestos. The virus may have been spread by polio vaccine.

So does this mean that the out of business asbestos companies can get their money back? Or that survivors of folks who died in the WTC as the non-asbestos coated support members melted can sue the lawyers who have made a living suing asbestos manufacturers and users? How about the businesses who spent billions removing non-flaking asbestos to make sure they wouldn’t be victims of lawsuits?

Ah, the sweet, sweet sound of cracking the cap on a 40. If you need a recommendation , this is the place to go. Sweet archive of humor bits, including the above pic of Martha on Conan, and TDS ‘s advice on “over-the-counter drugs to treat anxiety that come in convenient 40oz containers.”

Not that I’ve got any first-hand experience here…

Excuse the formatting. A left-leaning friend sent this to me… I’ll withhold my comments for a while and let you all have at it… Pardon the poor formatting – I’m tied up in a training class.

The Harris County Public Library (And the library I left in Connecticut) all keep their check in/out records on computer. How hard would it be for the library to spit out a ‘Since you read Go, Dogs, Go, you might like Eight Arms, Eight Eyes‘ kind of receipt?

Geeks are a twitter because the California Supreme Court dealt a serious blow to free speech Monday. In thier ruling they declare that publishing a piece of code that allows for the decryption of DVDs is illegal.

Disclosure of this highly technical information adds nothing to the public debate over the use of encryption software or the DVD industry’s efforts to limit unauthorized copying of movies on DVDs. We do not see how any speech addressing a matter of public concern is inextricably intertwined with and somehow necessitates disclosure of DVD CCA’s trade secrets.

This ruling shows a clear misunderstanding of the issues. The code in question was not stolen from a secret lab. It was developed by a Linux computer user who was not able to watch DVDs on his computer. Due to agreements between M$ and the technology lapdog of the MPAA, DVD CCA, there were no tools to view DVD movies on Linux. Also, the whole idea that it is illegal to publish a piece of code that will fit on the back of a t-shirt is absurd.

Show your support for free speech (and your detest for the DMCA) by purchasing a t-shirt at CopyLeft.net . $4.00 per T-shirt is donated to The Electronic Frontier Foundation.
