“Doug Chiang Studios”:http://www.dchiang.com/ is working on a book with “Orson Scott Card”:http://www.hatrack.com/ about a future where large robots rule the planet. “Doug Chaing”:http://us.imdb.com/Name?Chiang,+Doug did stop-motion animation for “Pee Wee’s Playhouse”:http://us.imdb.com/Details?0090500, worked on the design of “Forrest Gump”:http://us.imdb.com/Title?0109830 and was design director for both “Episode I”:http://us.imdb.com/Title?0120915 and “Episode II”:http://us.imdb.com/Title?0121765 . The description of this book is pretty odd.

bq. “Robata”:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0811840417/rollecomthewebsi will be made public first as a “film format” illustrated book. … It will be more an art book than a novel.

Even odder is that DC Studios has released a set of “trailers”:http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/dc_studio/robota/ for the book. That’s right, a trailer for a book.

p.s. Thanks to “Becky’s Book Club”:http://come.to/beckysbookclub I haven’t kept up with my own reading. I didn’t even know that OSC(Orson Scott Card) had a seventh book for the Ender series, “Shadow Puppets”:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0765340054/rollecomthewebsi .

On the subject of books we didn’t know were coming out, the new Wired has an interview with Neal Stephenson about Quicksilver which is out September 23 and is the first in a trilogy, the other two of which will be published at 6 month intervals.

And NPR did an with William Gibson (last actual item from bottom) about Pattern Recognition, his new book.

Good times to be a geek.

Pattern Recognition is a good book. I have been reccommending it to everyone.
