I’m a huge fan of putting education online. I got to play a decent part a huge project at subschool to make our instruction available to anyone on the SIPRNET. My MBA was an online program, which intellectually (if not in networking terms) was challenging, and closely simulated today’s workplace, with disjointed communications and real-world schedules.
Anywoo – MIT’s gone ahead and opened up OpenCourseWare , a project which will put course material (including textbooks in many cases) online and available to anyone for free. They’re not offering any sort of degree or certification for participation, but if (like me) you’re interested in learning for learning’s sake, it’s a pretty cool place to poke around.
I am betting that Lindsayism.com will have a runaway hit with her new sake shot.
Here’s a picture of Gallagher raising money (and cain) outside the Treasury Department. I’m curious, though, if this is the first Gallagher or the new Gallagher…
WDYLIA – Episode 2 – Part 1 (of 2 Parts) in a continuing series; This part is subtitled “I still love Tim and Karrie, but they need to rein things back in.”
Saturday (8/9/2003) afternoon launched another excellent day in Austin kicking it Rolling Roadshow style with the Alamo Drafthouse owners, Tim and Karrie League. The night was a great success with only a few hitches that I believe can be easily addressed (if T&K are willing to rein in Harry Knowles’s voracious fan appetite.) Games were played, crafts were made, movies were seen, fun was had.
Read more!Kelly and I agree that Achewood has probably jumped the shark, and there is no question that it takes dedication to “get” what the comic strip is about and see the humor behind these cleverly crafted characters. Also, I have not been dealing well with the fact that the artist has decided to only post new strips on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Today I am starting to understand, though, that some artists need to expand to new mediums and break new ground (and maybe sometimes that has to impact their core competency). Chris Onstad (the artist) steps it up on his non-comic strip day with instructions (given in the voice of his character, Ray Smuckles) on how to make a pretty cool looking shooter along with a really nice photograph of the finshed product.

Hmm. May actually have to go check him out.
“Despite claims by western leaders that Yugoslav forces were conducting “genocide” against the Kosovan Albanians, reports of mass killings and atrocities – such as the supposed concealment of 700 murdered Kosovan Albanians in the Trepca mines – were often later admitted to be wrong. “ So says Kate Hudson in the Guardian
Stand by for the Microsoft Music Store. It’s up and running in Europe, where Apple has yet to launch. Similar pricing schemes (slightly more expensive), and the advantage of a copy of WMP with every copy of Windows shipped.
Just in case anyone missed the interview with Larry Flynt in today’s Salon.
He’s a nut, but I’ve had a wierd respect for him since the Jerry Fallwell First Ammendment battle. From the interview, sounds like he might be one of the world’s first honest politicians.
Someone in Hong Kong has been reading etrigan’s Worth Watching review of Pirates of the Caribbean and decided to try it for themselves.

Remember the post a week or so ago about Jesus (no, not THAT Jesus) buying ‘adult’ comic books in Dallas?
NRO’s Corner has picked it up .
