Funny as all-get-out parody of goings on in California, Harry Potter style. With the exception of casting the CaliDems (Demofornians?) as Death Eaters, it’s just generally funny. NRO does stuff like this more often than non-regular followers realize.

In real life, I think I still like Ueberroth more than the rest. Another link to the SF Chronicle running down some of the ‘serious’ contender. Good article about setting the ballot order . And it turns out that Michael Jackson is running as a Republican, according to this page. Never figured him as an engineer.

Technorati

Pretty much a buzz index. It’s neat, too, since you can throw in an URL and have it track all the links in and out. We, alas, only exist in the Rollerfeet cosmos.

Plus, how else would I have found out about Bikini Coffee Bars? . Mmmm, Chile. Good wine, trout the size of your leg, and coffee, Hooters style.

Pretty flippin’ sweet. I dig on the whole idea of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle’s. Not so hazardous to pilots; ultimately not so hazardous to those on the grounds since you don’t have a shaken pilot itching to shoot back if they get lit up.

But that’s not what’s cool about the firescout. This is. Synthetic Apature Radar. One of my buds is an engineer who works on this kind of stuff. The article says one foot and four inch resolutions possible, which is pretty cool. Imagine sitting miles away and being able to tell if a truck has its windows rolled down.

Yeah. That’s what this can do.

The coolest thing is that SAR’s not really a hardware revolution, but a leap in processing. I know nothing about this program, but my guess is the the whole thing, signal processing and flying the UAV, is done from an off-the-shelf PC.

I really hope this is some kind of biased smear campaign (or a hoax) and I’m just missing the other POV, but apparently the Bureau of Industry and Security at the U.S. Department of Commerce has a regulation

prohibiting U.S. persons from taking any action in support of foreign government boycotts against Israel.

The U.S. Government stands firm in its policy of opposing restrictive trade practices or boycotts against Israel. The Commerce Department is committed to using all of its resources to oppose economic boycotts against Israel and corporations that do business with Israel. said Under Secretary for Industry and Security Kenneth I. Juster

Is this even possible? It’s a really old link (more than a year old) but it’s troubling none-the-less.

Just in case you thought he was faking the finger surgery to get out of touring so he can make out with Renee, Jack White (of the White Stripes, you know – they’re all cool and shit) has posted detailed images of his finger surgery on the White Stripes website.

Do NOT click on the above link if you’re at all squeamish.

We’ve all gotten the spam – my father, the African diplomat, had all this money and I need to get rid of it – please let me deposit $10M in your bank account. I would never have believed it, but someone here in DC fell for it, hard – to the tune of $1.3M. Over 30 months! Including a meeting with 2 nigerians in Europe!

I’m sure that this ties into John’s earlier post about the faith-based initiatives somehow. Something tells me that a federal grant to that church would have gone down the same drain…

Today’s NY Times has a profile of Dennis Franchione, Texas A&M’s new football coach.

While many Times readers will be suprised to hear that a local radio station hosts a weekly call-in show at The Tap to discuss Aggie football ALL YEAR ROUND, or that alums wear gimme caps with their class years embroidered on them, I just thought to myself “Ah, home.”

My entry for Pirates of the Caribbean is up at Worth Watching. It’s a 5-star blockbuster, but it’s not going to save any souls, but were you expecting anything more?
