Pink Floyd, Squeeze, Ween. I believe that these are very talented bands who have contributed greatly to the music world…I don’t listen to any of them.

Peter Ueberroth , ex-commissioner of MLB. With all due respect to Gary Coleman, Ueberroth actually has the chops to be a decent governor. Set up a solid organization that even Bud Selig has had problems destroying. Page 2 doesn’t like him much (Item 10), but they’ve always been for labor.

Stealing an article from /. again: According to BBC News there is a new Microsoft Mouse design on the horizon that would allow the scroll wheel to be pushed left and right, too, allowing horizontal scrolling. The /. guy asks

How long before I get a trackball embedded in my mouse?

and I have to agree except for one problem I can’t seem to get around. If I put a track-ball where the scroll wheel is, how can I accurately click it?

Which leads to my question for you: do you ever click your mouse wheel? could you do without that particular click?

Here’s a Salon article about a mysterious illness among the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Somewhere between the gray matter that housed this reading material and my current bedside reading, Ringworld by Larry Niven, a thought occurred to me that maybe achieving “one world” is not such a good idea.

no, not that Jesus!

This is cross-post from a /. article about a guy, Jesus Catillo, who got arrested and convicted because he sold an adult comic book to an adult under-cover officer. The Supreme Court denied to hear his appeal because they feel it’s a state’s rights issue. Castillo’s lawyers believe that free speech issues dealing with the state should be heard by the Supreme Court. One of my favorite charities, the CBLDF, is handling the case and I think they have a point if only that this action effectively censors print material.

I guess it would be—-get rid of your X-Rated comics—we don’t sell that type of material anymore. Unfortunately, it’s the only way I know to avoid the situation in Texas, at least.

Cool, cool, cool. Waypath is a pretty decent place to kill a little time. Discovered it after googling Backporch Beer . We were back up at the first hit (Woo Hoo!), but the next hit was also a link to us, too, through Cloudy, Chance of Sun Breaks .

Regardless, it seems like a great idea, well worth blogging. I’ve loved watching cool, little programs evolve in the internet world. An upside to the tech bust is being able to engage this as a private pursuit again, instead of just a matter of checking the evening news.

Oh, and we’re turning up in Google News , too. (Thanks to American Digest for that one. Also for running the cool Remington painting in a recent entry. Takes me back to the Norton Art Gallery , possibly the best place to take chicks when the azelas were blooming during high school.)

Un-Updated to show our Buzz-O-Meter – Removed the link since it wasn’t loading properly.

Get Fuzzy is one of those comic strips that is only occasionally funny in stand-alone mode. You usually have to know the personalities of the people/creatures involved. Today’s strip breaks that mold, I think.
