For the DNC’s presidential candidate. Here. Though the DNC is probably loathe to accept advice from “one who joined the vast right-wing conspiracy as soon as (Sen. Clinton) advertised it.”

My take is that Bartley is right on. Despite my personal dislike for Hilary, she polls well with the unwashed. If GWB’s the high school quarterback to your disgruntled band geeks (cyn), Hilary’s the Student Government president to my physics club geeks. I wouldn’t vote for her in a million years, but I’d give my left nut to see a election between her and W instead of any of the other contenders.

I’ll give you one even better! She’s not running in 04! That much is pretty certain. She understands that the econ is coming back and the pres. is going to be riding a high (iraq etc…) going into the election. So, she will run for the Senate one more time (2006) and then run for Pres in 2008. She’s still young and not in a hurry. HOWEVER! My ONE BETTER would be a race between her on the left and Condi on the right! Condileeze Rice would eat her alive!

Gordo sure can bait with the best of them.

I do not see that the economy is coming back, but that’s definitely a wait-and-see kind of situation. Despite whatever “indicators” you might throw at me, you can only review it historically.

If Iraq at [ war + 20 months ] (November 2004) looks like Afghanistan at [ war + 20 months ] (May 2003) — feel free to correct my math if I’m wrong — I don’t think the Bush election will be as smooth as the GOP hopes for. Killing Sicko-Psycho Hussain and his brother is a military-provided feather in the cap of W, but if political unrest continues (or worsens) and big bad daddy is still on the loose, W will have to answer for that over-and-over during his campaign. (While I am hoping W doesn’t get re-elected, I pray regularly that a modicum of peace comes quickly to Iraq and that we capture or kill Saddam.)

As for Condi Rice being a good candidate, I do believe you are smoking crack. I mentioned in an earlier comment that I would really like to see minority representation in the White House, but I’d rather have Sharpton than war-mongering, ecology-hating Condi.

(man, instant punditry is rife!)

You reall are smoking crack if you think Sharpton would be better than Condi. Jeebus – reactionary, much?
