Buy This Now and I’ll Tell You What You’re Getting Later

Ok, here’s the deal. I’m going to throw a benfit concert next July, but I don’t know who the headliner is going to be. I tell you what, though, I will know by March and I will tell you then. In preparation, though, I want you to pay for a ticket now and that way you can support the cause even before you know who’s playing the show! Doesn’t that sound great?

…or as Senator Edward Kennedy said in his email to me:

“A year from now, on July 29, 2004 at the Democratic National Convention in Boston, our party will nominate our candidate to be the next President of the United States…However, by March 2004, we’ll know who our nominee is…That’s why I’m writing now to ask for your support.”

If I contributed now, with my luck, Bob Graham would be the headliner and I would bear the shame of paying for his nomination.

Absolutely brilliant entry, BTW. I need to get back on the GOP and Democrat mailing lists. Nothing is so entertaining as politicians begging for money.

BTW, Bob Graham wouldn’t be nearly as interesting as someone else. I truly do love listening to the Reverend Al, especially after catching him on Letterman several times. And I don’t know if I could stand a Bush/Lieberman contest. Dean, Sharption, Kucinich … someone with at least different talking points.

Hmm – interesting mind game: Picture Chappaquidick Ted giving the endorsement speech for Rev. Sharption. I think it would rank a perfect 10 on the Unintentional Comedy Scale.

heh. As much as I dearly deeply and truly believe that this country is long over-due to have a president that is not

  1. white
  2. male
  3. Christian and
  4. Democrat or Republican

There is no way I could vote for Al Sharpton. I would vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat; and against W/Cheney I might even vote for Jesse Jackson…then, again..maybe not.
